The team that is now known as the Carolina Hurricanes first entered the world hockey association in 1972, and they were known as the Whalers. It was not until 1979 that the Hartford Whalers joined the National Hockey League. In 1997, hockey fans in Carolina were thrilled as their city was officially given a hockey team when the Whalers moved to Carolina to become the Hurricanes. Hurricanes tickets sold quickly as the team wasted no time in bringing success to Carolina. During the special season of 1999, holders of Carolina Hurricanes tickets saw team captain Ron Francis become only the sixth player in NHL history to reach 1500 career points. Less than two months later, fans with Hurricanes hockey tickets watched defenseman Paul Coffey become the first player at his position to accomplish the 1500 point feat. Fans with Hurricanes tickets not only saw individual accomplishments, but also team accomplishments, especially in the 2002 season. In that historic season, those who purchased Hurricanes hockey tickets watched their team travel through the season and go on to win their first ever conference championship. This, of course, meant that fans could purchase Stanley Cup Finals Hurricanes tickets for the first time ever. Fans with Hurricanes hockey tickets currently look to head coach Peter Laviolette to lead the team back to the Stanley Cup Finals. The fourth youngest coach in the NHL, Laviolette led the New Jersey Islanders to two consecutive playoff berths before coming to Carolina. Many fans with Hurricanes tickets hold high hopes for Laviolette, as he coached the 2004 Team USA hockey team to a bronze medal in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships in the Czech Republic. Since the team first moved to Carolina in 1997, fans with Hurricanes tickets have gone to the RBC Center to in Raleigh, North Carolina to watch their team play. For every home game, the RBC Center opens its doors to about 19,000 fans with Carolina Hurricanes tickets. The Center also serves as the home basketball court of the University of North Carolina State as well as the premier entertainment venue in the Raleigh area. Hurricanes tickets are especially hot right now because of the Hurricanes' win in the Stanley Cup Finals over the Edmonton Oilers. They have a great team and are looking for the same production next year. So purchase your tickets early from MTC Tickets, your customer first broker. View Carolina Hurricanes Game Schedule:
