In 1980, the Flames hockey team moved from Atlanta to Calgary, and the sale of Calgary Flames tickets began. The team played its first games in front of capacity crowds of fans with Flames tickets at the Stampede Corral. Within the first decade of the teams existence, the Flames accomplished what some teams have never accomplished in franchise history. In 1989, Calgary brought the Stanley Cup home to all of the holders of Flames hockey tickets. Before coming to Calgary, Sutter coached the San Jose Sharks, where he still holds the franchise record for games coached and wins. In 1983, fans with Flames tickets stopped going to the Stampede Corral for Calgary Flames games; instead, they visited the brand new home of the Flames, Pengrowth Saddledome. Holders of Flames hockey tickets instantly notice the distinctive saddle-shaped roof of the Saddledome as they walk up to the arena. The Saddledome gives holders of Flames tickets the opportunity to eat at restaurants like the Avison Young Club, located within the arena, before games. Aside from providing fans with Flames hockey tickets a venue to cheer on their favorite team, the Saddledome has also hosted the 1988 Olympic Games, as well at numerous concerts that visit the dome throughout the year.
