Redskins football tickets first sold for the 1937 season in Boston, MA. The former Boston Braves moved to Fenway Park and took a new name. With support lacking by fans purchasing Redskins tickets, the owner moved the club to Washington D.C. where fans appeared anxious to purchase Washington Redskins tickets. The team did well through 1942, providing fans with Redskins football tickets seven consecutive winning seasons and three appearances in the NFL Championship Game. The team won the 1937 and 1942 NFL Championship, but the team and fans with Redskins tickets faced an embarrassing 73-0 shut out to the Chicago Bears in 1940. The 1946 through 1970 period saw both the team and purchasers of Washington Redskins tickets looking for new coaches able to build the team to its former self. Eleven coaches, only four winning seasons, and 26 years without making it to the playoffs depressed sales of Redskins football tickets. In 1972 Coach George Allen turned the team then known as the “Over the Hill Gang” around dramatically. During the next seven seasons fans with Redskins tickets witnessed seven winning seasons, five playoff appearances, and a 1973 trip to the Super Bowl where the Redskins lost to the Dolphins. In 1981 Coach Joe Gibbs continued the team’s climb to the top. For the next twelve years fans with Washington Redskins tickets enjoyed ten winning records, eight playoff appearances, and three Super Bowl championships. A 1984 appearance at the Super Bowl ended in defeat by the Raiders. Sales of Redskins football tickets took a dramatic turn upwards in 1997 when the Redskins moved into their new FedEx Field home which provides over 90,000 seats for fans with Redskins tickets. The Washington Redskins boasted a good record of 10-6 last year making the playoffs just ahead of a talented Dallas Cowboys team. Because of Washington's recent successes, Redskins tickets have been selling fast.
