Although no Minnesota Gophers football tickets were sold in 1882, this year marked the first time that a University of Minnesota football game was played. Just ten years later, fans were purchasing Minnesota football tickets as the Gophers went undefeated and won their first ever conference title, and they have gone on to win seventeen more and six national championships in front of their fans with Minnesota football tickets. Since 1890, fans with Minnesota Gophers football tickets have seen their team play against the University of Wisconsin more than one hundred times. These two teams have played against one another more times than any other two NCAA Division-I teams in history. 1907 marked the first year of the game between the two team which, as fans with Minnesota football tickets would find, would became an annual tradition. In 1948, fans with Minnesota tickets would see the teams compete over Paul Bunyan’s Axe, a trophy awarded to the winner of this yearly game. Since 1997, fans with Minnesota football tickets have credited Head Coach Glen Mason with much of the team’s success. In front of fans with Minnesota Gophers football tickets, Coach Mason became only the third active coach in college football to have won at least forty games at two different universities, as he won forty at Kansas University in previous years. From 1999-2004, fans with Minnesota football tickets saw the Gophers play in five bowl games, winning three of them. In 2003, the team experienced their first ten win season since 1905. Since 1982, holders of Minnesota tickets have gone to the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome to watch their Gophers compete. The Metrodome also serves as a home to the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL and Major League Baseball’s Minnesota Twins. The stadium holds a capacity of up to 63,000 fans with Minnesota football tickets. Currently, many people, including those that regularly purchase Minnesota football tickets, are trying to get a new stadium built for the Gophers. The current goal is a state of the art stadium to be built by 2008. View Minnesota Gophers Game Schedule:
