Through the years, fans that have purchased Champs Sports Bowl tickets have seen the bowl game with a number of different names. From its first game in 1990 until 1993, the bowl game was known as the Blockbuster Bowl; from 1994 until 1997, it was the Carquest Bowl; from 1998 until 2000, Micron PC sponsored the bowl game; and from 2001 until 2003, it was known as the Tangerine Bowl. Only since 2004 have Champs Sports Bowl tickets been available, as Champs is now the main sponsor that makes the bowl game available for fans that wish to buy Champs Sports Bowl football tickets. However, no matter what the name of the bowl, the game has always been held in Orlando, FL where fans now purchase Champs Sports Bowl tickets.

For the first ten years of the bowl, fans with Champs Sports Bowl tickets traveled to Miami, Florida to watch the game in Pro Player Stadium. However, in 2001, the venue that sells Champs Sports Bowl tickets switched from Miami’s Pro Player Stadium to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Besides holding fans with Champs Sports Bowl football tickets, the Citrus Bowl also hosts the Capitol One Bowl, which usually takes place a few days later. The stadium was originally constructed in 1936, and it could just barely hold ten thousand fans. Champs Sports Bowl tickets are scheduled to be available again soon for the 2006 game. The game will be held on December 27 in the Citrus Bowl. The 2006 game will mark only the second time since 2001 that holders of Champs Sports Bowl football tickets will watch the game after Christmas Day.
