Longtime members of the Tobacco Road rivalry, North Carolina State Wolfpack basketball tickets have been among the hottest college basketball tickets in the country for years. Due to great rivalries with other North Carolina teams like the Duke Blue Devils, the North Carolina Tarheels, and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, fans have purchased North Carolina State tickets and sold out Wolfpack games for years. Throughout the history of the school, holders of North Carolina State basketball tickets have seen their team win the NCAA National Championship on two different occasions. The first time came in 1974, when fans with North Carolina State tickets saw their team win its first ever national title. In 1983, the Wolfpack thrilled their fans with North Carolina State basketball tickets with a last second victory over the favored Wisconsin team. In one of the most memorable plays in college basketball history, Derek Whittenburg heaved a full court shot with time expiring in the championship game. The shot fell short, but also fell right into the hands of teammate Lorenzo Charles who quickly dunked the ball to secure the victory for the Wolfpack. The coach of this 1983 team was none other than college basketball legend, Jimmy Valvano. Jimmy V, as he was known by holders of North Carolina State Wolfpack basketball tickets, was known around the country for both his presence on the court as well as his inspiring life off the court. Diagnosed with cancer at age 47, Jimmy V cemented himself as a legend of North Carolina State and all of college basketball by founding the V Foundation, a foundation driven toward a cure for cancer, shortly before his death. Each year, holders of North Carolina State basketball tickets and fans all across the country watch the Jimmy V Classic, a tournament held in Coach Valvano’s honor at the beginning of each NCAA season.
