The story of the Washington Wizards strangely begins in Chicago. The team first entered the league in 1961 as the Chicago Packers, and, after a few seasons in Baltimore, the team moved to Washington in 1974 as the Washington Bullets. In 1997, the team once again changed its name to the Wizards. All through the Wizards long history, the team's players have consistently given owners of Wizards tickets something to cheer about. The most successful years of the franchise came during the 1970s, as the team delighted holders of Wizards tickets, although the team was then known as the Bullets. During this decade, the team made four NBA Finals appearances, including one in 1978 in which they were crowned NBA champions with their first and only NBA championship. All those who purchase Washington Wizards tickets today can still see a part of that history the retired jerseys of Elvin Hayes, Gus Johnson, and Wes Unseld hang in the rafters of the MCI center. In an amazing feat, Wes Unseld was awarded the honor of both league Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year in 1969. Moving forward, Wizard ticket holders brought new levels of excitement to Washington as Michael Jordan joined the team in the 2001-2002 season. Propelled by Jordan's arrival, Washington Wizards tickets sales greatly increased during this season, as the Wizards led all NBA teams in attendance. This trend continued into the next season as Washington Wizards tickets remained one of the hottest tickets in the league, as for the second straight season, the Wizards led the NBA in attendance. Many people wanted these Wizards tickets to see Michael Jordan in what would end up his final season in the league. In the middle of Washington, D.C. sits the home of the Washington Wizards and fans that purchase Wizards tickets: the MCI Center. This arena provides an experience unlike any other for holders of Wizards basketball tickets. The MCI Center, which accommodates nearly 20,000 owners of Wizards tickets, possesses a 12' by 16' telescreen above the court, the largest of its kind in any arena across the country. Additionally, the MCI Center provides fans that purchase certain Wizards tickets 110 luxury suites and 4 executive suites. It's never too early to purchase Wizards tickets for the 2007 season.
