It took nearly fifty years for NBA basketball to return to Toronto, Canada after the Toronto Huskies folded in 1947, but the emergence of the Raptors in 1995 did just that. The 1995 expansion of the NBA brought two teams to Canada, the Raptors and the Vancouver Grizzlies, and fans quickly purchased Raptors basketball tickets to support their new team. The 2001 move of the Grizzlies from Vancouver to Memphis has left Raptors tickets the only NBA tickets left in Canada. Since February 21, 1999, fans with Toronto Raptors tickets have enjoyed watching the team play in the Air Canada Center. The Center accommodates approximately 19,800 holders of Raptors tickets. Carter, the Rookie of the Year in 1999, electrified fans with Toronto Raptors tickets with his high-flying dunks; as he went on to win the Slam Dunk Competition at the All-Star game in 2000. These components led to the availability of Raptors playoff tickets for the first time in 1999. Now, fans with Raptors tickets look to Coach Sam Mitchell to lead the team to its first conference, division, and ultimately NBA titles.
