In 1934, Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts decided to develop and hold an annual golf tournament. This was at this moment that the magic and the tradition of the Masters Tournament began. Fans with Masters Tournament tickets see many of the traditions from this first tournament still alive today, more than fifty years later. For instance, fans with Masters Tournament golf tickets today recognize the absence of any qualifying round as well as the four day, eighteen-hole structure of the tournament. The first of four major championships of the PGA Tour season, the Masters Tournaments invites fans with Masters Tournament golf tickets to the historic Augusta National Golf Club each year. It is at this course that holders of Masters Tournament tickets have seen the awarding of the ceremonial green jacket to the winner of the tournament, a tradition that began in 1949. Over the years, holders of Masters Tournament golf tickets have seen many different golfers win the tournament and don the green jacket. However, none of these names have been as prominent as Jack Nicklaus and, more recently, Tiger Woods. In 1965 and 1966, Jack Nicklaus established himself as a Masters Tournament legend by becoming the first golfer to win two consecutive titles. Throughout his career, holders of Masters Tournament tickets saw “the Golden Bear” win a total of six Masters Championships, a record which still stands today. How long it will remain, however, is the question. In 1997, Tiger Woods made his presence felt at the Masters by breaking the four day scoring record and going on to win his first Masters Tournament. In 2005, fans with Masters Tournament golf tickets saw Tiger win his fourth Masters Championship. With four championships before the age of thirty, Tiger looks to break Nicklaus’s record, and any golf fan would be lucky to have Masters Tournament tickets if and when he does. In 2006, Phil Mickelson took home the green jacket. Both Tiger and Mickelson are favorites to win in 2007, so purchase Masters tickets today from MTC Tickets, your customer first broker.
