That certainly would not be the same description fans with Wilco tickets would give the band today. With 1996’s release of the two disc Being There fans with Wilco concert tickets saw the band venture into psychedelic and power pop, backed by orchestral and horn flourishes. Wilco followed in 1999 with Summer Teeth which received good critical acclaim for its the pop sounds created with synthesizers, mellotrons and brass; but fans purchasing Wilco tickets didn’t seem to really love the album based on sales figures. Wilco also worked on collaborations with Billy Bragg, producing Mermaid Avenue and Mermaid Avenue, Vol. 2 a collection of performances based on unreleased material originally written by Woody Guthrie during this time period. In between collaborations and working on albums, Wilco fulfilled fans demands for Wilco concert tickets by touring. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot followed in 2002.
