Born Taylor Reuben Hicks in 1976, Taylor Hicks began his public singing career at just the age of 5 when he would sing to strangers.  At 16, Hicks was teaching himself blues on the harmonica and had discovered that he possessed the rare talent of absolute pitch.  From then on, Hicks and anyone that knew him truly believed that he was destined for big things. 

After graduating high school in ’95, Hicks attended Auburn University only to lose interest and drop out.  During his short stay at Auburn however, Taylor Hicks expanded his musical prowess in a band called Passing Through.  In ’97 Hicks recorded his own independently produced album called In Your Time. 

Eventually, as many musicians do, Taylor Hicks ended up in Nashville, Tennessee and attempted to pursue a music career.  Nashville, while not his ideal place to make it big, would become a jumping off point.  From Tennessee, Hicks launched a music career performing in large parties, venues, and clubs throughout the South. 

On October 10, 2005, despite warnings from Simon that he would never make it to the last round, Taylor Hicks was accepted as a contestant in American Idol and eventually went on to win –proving Simon wrong.  From there, the Taylor Hicks story involves all of the talent, fame, and fortune he currently enjoys.
