After a long stint of small time albums and pitching demos, rap-rock groups such as Rage Against the Machine and Korn began to make headlines.  This was Kid Rock’s chance to start selling concert tickets and making albums again.  Atlantic Records decided that the new rap-rock genre was something they should invest in and they took a chance with Kid Rock.  Devil Without a Cause was released in 1998 and single Bawitdaba became a smash hit.  Eventually, Devil went platinum seven times over and Kid Rock was a national superstar selling concert tickets everywhere he went.
